Long term assignments and other homework will be listed in planners. Please check your child’s planner on a nightly basis and sign the planner even if homework is not listed or posted. There maybe a note from the teacher, forms, calendars, important date reminders and other information that need to be checked on a nightly basis. Always ask your child to bring you their planner and any forms or notes to be signed each night.

Parent / Teacher Contact

The planner is the main regular communication between parent and teacher. For quick safe contact you may text or call my cellphone. Texting is preferred as I usually cannot answer the phone during work hours. I will be available for text or call between 8:30am and 5:00pm on my device. The best time to contact me is over the lunch hour (11:45am – 12:45pm). Please respect these timelines for cellphone use. If interested please send your cellphone number with your child.

Thank you for your support.

Welcome Back!

Welcome Back To School

A big welcome goes out to students and parents for this new school year. I am looking forward to teaching your child and building student confidence and success. A newsletter and forms package will be sent home on the first week of school which outlines important guidelines and schedule dates. Please sign and return.

A calendar will follow for September in the coming weeks as we finalize timetables and last minute changes. I know that many parents will be asking about homework in the weeks to come and I will post a specific blog regarding homework and I will send home a September Parent Package to keep everyone informed. Most of our homework for the year will be posted on this website and in student planners.

We have a class website and monthly calendar where homework and units for the month are posted with links, videos and tutorials of concepts and lessons taught. This is a wonderful resource to help with homework and for regular practice of concepts. The class website is also a location for us to share student work, post reminders, events and assemblies. Please check monthly for our Blog posts.

Below is a list of items needed for each day…

Backpack, Lunch Bag, Ear Buds, Pencil Case, pencil crayons, markers, mini stapler, small pencil sharpener

We will work together to help your child achieve success this year. Thank you for your support.

Thank You

Mr. C. Phillips

Entrapranorial Creative Design

The students in Rm. 306 will be designing character sweatshirts that they will be presenting to a panal of judges. They will be judged on their ability to create and sell a unique character, product design, and marketing plan. The sweatshirt designs must have a hood, front, secret pocket and back artwork design. This project will cross many curriculum areas. Ask your child about their Entrapranorial Character Design.

Gone Fishin’ Trip to Scadding Community Centre

We had a blast on our fishing trip to Scadding Community Centre and everyone caught a beautiful rainbow trout. The Gone Fishin’ Project allows students to try to catch rainbow trout from a fully stocked fishing pool. This is an excellent chance to not only learn how to fish, but also learn about ecology, the environment, nutrition and where food comes from. We will be going back next year for some fishing fun.

Gone Fishin’

The students in Rm. 306 are going to Scadding Court Community Centre on Thurs June 13, 2013 to try their hand at fishing. The Gone Fishin’ Project allows students to try to catch rainbow trout from a fully stocked fishing pool. This is an excellent chance to not only learn how to fish, but also learn about ecology, the environment, nutrition and where food comes from. We are looking forward to a great time and will post some pictures of our trip in the near future.
